Stunts and spectacle during the first edition of URBAN ACTION.

Skydives, base jumps, wheelies, flips and break moves were to be seen during the Urban Action festival, where adrenaline levels rose just as much for the visitors as for the participators.
The weekend was full of stunts, demonstrations and shows from artists and street sporters, accompanied with musical entertainment from rap to rock over the two stages.

Saturday was opened with an air-show from the TopGun team. The five-man diving team circled the NDSM terrain from above, each landing with precision amongst the on looking public in the centre of the great ramp.
Basejumper Johan Vervoort also sent ripples through the crowd by jumping four times from the monumental NDSM crane, falling from a mere 40metres high to the spectators below.

Spread over the event, breakdancers, freerunners, capoeiristas, bmx-ers and stuntmen allowed their skills to be seen and learnt by the public through the many demos and workshops on offer.
Artists from the “Kattenbak” collective, MeBike, grafitti artists and photographers had their creative kitchens open.

A big crowd-pleaser was the European Streetbike Freestyle Championship, where the final round took place on Sunday.
Enthusiasts from all over Europe followed their stars and friends to this show of acrobatic stunts on motorcycles.
Defending titleholder Chris Pfeiffer maintained his reign with former world champion AC Farias taking second place. Third place went to Spanish talent Narcis Roca and the best stunt rider from the Netherlands, Johnny Do claimed fourth.

From the deck of the docked ship, Stubnitz could people overlook the festival.
The raw terrain of the former shipping wharf formed the perfect décor for the participators of this urban themed event to come alive.

Two women came together to bring the enormity of Urban Action to the population. Mariken van Lammeren and Marit Hendriksen.
Mariken has a casting agency called Action Casting, aimed specifically at sporting/stunting people, where through much of Urban Action’s talent was utilized.
Marit has an event organizing company called Hyper Hyena, with experience in similar projects, and through where motorbike stunts have held past trends.
